ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY While Barbara Eden oozed pure submissive sexuality on I Dream of Jeannie, Elizabeth Montgomery had a more daunting task. She had to be the girl next door, loving wife, and mother, and still charm the pants off of a still very conservative America. She played Samantha on Bewitched for 8 years starting in 1964, and helped paved the way for strong sexy and smart female TV characters like The Bionic Woman and Charlie's Angles for years to come. Though she died of cancer at the age of 62, she stayed active in many projects 'til the end, including narration of an Academy Award Winning documentary about Panama.
