The
Shining is just chock full of terrifying moments, making it one
of the all time scariest from title to closing credits. As the evil
history of the Overlook Hotel affect the young Danny Torrance, he
reaches a breaking point while chanting "RED RUM" in his mother's
room while he holds a knife, and scrawls the phrase on the door.
When the mom (played masterfully by Shelly Duvall) wakes up, she is
already freaked out, but when he glances at the mirror and sees the
reverse image, you can almost hear her brain hemorrhage.
